Knowing More Bees How Do They Serve Humans

Our ecosystem is composed of important elements. These elements contribute to the proper functioning of our ecosystem. Hence, if you take away one element, the environment will have to make adjustments. Insects such as bees are important features in this community. They play a major role in food production through the process of pollination.Bees belong together with ants, wasps, and other insects under the Hymenoptera order.

Insects that are grouped to this order live in colonies and practice the division of labor, although there are some insects, which live alone.Currently, there are almost 20,000 varieties of bees. species. However, in every colony, there are just three major types of bees, which include the following:? Queen BeeThe queen bee is the biggest among the bee members of the colony. It is characterized with a long- pointed abdomen. The queen't purpose is to lay eggs to continue the colony. A queen bee possesses a special scent called pheromones which she uses in communicating with her hive. The queen bee lacks the special tools that worker bees have such as pollen baskets, beeswax secreting glands, and a honey sac.Worker BeeThe worker bees have the most number of members in the colony. Certainly, an abundant colony may consist of 80,000 worker bees and increases during the season of summer. The job of the worker bees is to build and keep the nest stable for the brood.

They are also the one that are responsible for collecting nectar, pollen, water, and propolis from flowers.?DronesThe drones are considered male bees and are recognized with their huge eyes. They don't have sting and unable to defend and feed themselves. They don't posses pollen baskets or wax glands. Their purpose is to mate with queen bees only. After that, they die.How Do Bees Affect Humans? It is estimated that one-third of our food production relies upon bees since they play a major role in the process of pollination. Pollination is critical for plants production in which most of our plants and vegetables come from.Pollination is the most essential thing that bees do. Plants need pollination to reproduce and they depend on bees to do that. Bees keep on gathering nectar from flowers. By travelling from one flower to another, they are also transferring the pollen, thus, fertilizes the plant.Bees are dependent on flowers.

The nectar which provides them essential nutrients such as protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals come from flowers. They collect nectar in their abdomens, then go back to their hives, and manufacture honey. We, humans, are also dependent on bees. We depend on them to fertilize our food-producing plants. Without them, plants will not be fertilized and can't bear fruits. Fruits such as apples, watermelons, and strawberries depend on pollination, as well as some of our vegetables, which include corn and tomatoes. To conclude, bees are important. We cannot provide food for family and ourselves without getting help from bees. They also provide us honey, which is manufactured from the collected nectar. Without bees, our ecosystem will lapse and will not function normally.
